Hi all. My 2.5 has developed a really high pitched squeal from the aux belt tensioner. There seems to be play in the pivot but i don't want to take it apart and have it fall to bits in my hand! Is there a bearing in there? What is the usual cause?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I take it this is a P38. If it is. Bearing in tensioner or idler. Change both.

yes 2.5dt

OK it will be the bearing on the tensioner arm. The tensioner plunger is spring loaded to release tension on the belt it must be levered over centre. Also check this for worn bushings in both ends. See instructions in RAVE for details of how to change tensioner, whilst your at i would replace idler as well. Sits to right and just below tensioner bearing.

Yes a few. Depends if you want OEM or pattern. Island 4x4 are pretty quick service and reasonable prices. Others sell the same stuff but at inflated prices.
