Evening all!
Heres an odd one... Got a call today from my good lady sitting in her Disco2 going nowhere & theres a big pool of oil under the car. Went out with a chain & dragged it in. Had a look after work & a gearbox oil cooler pipe had popped of the steel end right by the air filter box. Clean as a whistle! My thoughts are:- Fill the gearbox through the flex pipe thats off then fit the pipe onto the steel union & put a jubilee clip on it. Will this work or do i need to take the 3 person option & fill through the gearbox sump level plug?.
Many thanks in advance all!

you need to check level through the level plug whilst its running in neutral, ive had a few of those pipes separate id fit a new one

Thanks for that jamesmartin! Thought i might be able to get away with filling through the pipe. DARN IT! Might have to be clipped on for a day or two untill i can get a new one.

Mine split, only proper breakdown I have had.

Had great difficulty parking at work!

Happened to me too. I agree, new pipes and I would take the opportunity to do a full oil / filter change.

Update on the pipe saga.
Local specialist cant get a pipe for a week or so... Oh well, best do a repair to get going for a bit. The flex pipe had popped of the snap fit union. Took union off & thorough clean with brake cleaner & rough up with Emery cloth. Next is a cloth with Brake cleaner on it & with the aid of a screwdriver, cleaned the inside of the pipe. Some superglue & a Jubilee clip then leave it for a day. Put it back together & fill with oil. Got just over 5 litres in it before it reached the level plug. Got off the ramp & out for a ride round. All seems ok after about 20 miles so back on the ramp to check the level. With the engine running & in N, took level plug out & oil flooded out. Any ideas? Just waiting for new pipe & filter kit to arrive & will be getting stuck in at the weekend. Happy days! :)

Might be wrong but dont think you should recheck oil level when the car/bix is hot . Think level should only be checked when you 1st start it up . I think ?
Ps ive had these pipes pop off too

Must admit it was "interesting" with hot oil running down my arm..... says something on the gearbox sump about temps between 66-80 deg.. So guessed it was done hot but would like to check fer sure!.
