It is only that shiny because it is less than 12 months old after having rebuilt it after an engine fire: LINK It is the later model late 300/td5 steering rack.

It may be but I have ordered the overprice steve parker kit as I cannot have the vehicle off the road any longer than necessary and that is what I fitted during the rebuild (at half the current price!). Whereas the series is ok to get me around in the interim it is not really up to (or rather I am not really up to) doing 500-1000miles a week!
I could just tell.. mine is ready for replacement

Steve parkers kit's are the best.. went there few weeks ago I had the last down pipe for the old school 300tdi disco into a landy (using disco mounts).. previous owner was a cheap owner.. cut and just welded the chassis brackets 6 inches inwards!

Quick update on this to finish off. Overpriced Steve Parker pipe now fitted and routed slightly differently, full length old radiator hose protection cover installed. And plastic spiral wrap hose protector ordered. You can see where it rubbed through on the steering column but hopefully the local hydraulic shop can repair it so I have a spare for the future.
