Hi guys, I am battling to solve a problem with my 2000 Disco 2 Td5 Auto
I have been battling with pull away and first thought it was the motor which has been totally overhauled but problem with pull away is still there. It is only when pulling away the the vehicle has no power once she is moving it is fine good acceleration and change overs are smooth. If you are on a slight incline and try and pull away it is even more difficult to get going and as for trying to pull up onto ramps or a curb, it is almost impossible! We have tried different ECU, EGR is bypassed MAS is fine, they changed throttle body and also no difference, what would the next step be ?

No warning lights on in the dash?
Sounds like maybe the auto box or torque converter?
the 'three amigo's" maybe?
Try cleaning some sensors on the autobox etc.

Ecu/injector loom connectors are clean/no oil?

Sounds like a gearbox issue, when you select a gear does the light illuminate instantly? And does is show the gear on the dash unstantly?

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago, very sluggish pulling away, and it wasnt lighting up or showing the gear on the dash. But mine has since cleared itself up and not had an issue with it since.

The advice i had was to look at the xyz switch as the contacts can wear.

It show immediately on dashboard and selects the gears without a problem, it is just as if the revs don't pick up on pull away!

Mechanically and electrically things seem fine, fuel lines, MAS, ECU etc. have all been checked, it really seems to me that it is down to the Auto Gearbox, apparently there are springs and solenoids that open and close and we were wondering if it is not something like that, not opening fast enough for pull away but I don't have much knowledge when it comes to auto boxes.
