The headliner is out to get at the roof bars and CB antennae. Deffo needs a retrim.

I had mine re-trimmed a few years ago:

Pain in the arse job but since yours is now out, it's a no brainer. :)

Rob, we are ALWAYS painting plastic trim at work and you will find that any decent acrylic satin black aerosol will be fine, lots of degreasing on the plastics, light coat of plastic etch primer and away you go.

Halfords range of own brand paint is truly excellent stuff just too dear for us to use in any great quantity.

Mark that headliner looks top marks bro!

And Jonny that Gif in your sig is quality!

An inspiring thread Rob, thanks for taking the time to write it all up - not sure why I'm thanking you though to be honest - you've made me buy a '98 D1 300Tdi :D

Paid embarrassingly little for it and having given it a thorough going over last night, it turns out its a bit of a gem! Almost zero rust :banplease: It does need a fair bit of mechanical and electrical work though, but having read this thread I know it'll be worth it - it'll probably replace my D2 Td5...

Keep updating the thread please, I'm hooked!

Absoultly love the disco , love discos with loads of trick bits and gadgets! Paint looks epic but maybe a bit more black in places tho

This is looking really nice and very Green, which I like!!!

Nice attention to detail too. You should be very proud of that. I particularly like the bonnet scoop for swallowing old ladies and young children as well as the nice green calipers...........

Brilliant just sat and read through the whole topic. Its unusual to see a topic where somebody is just adding cool mod cons and pimping the truck rather than cutting out and replacing rust haha. Some really nice ideas, I love the seats! Will be interesting to see if you paint the interior black, I was thinking of doing that with mine.

The scoop is off an Isuzu Trooper. It's not connected directly to anything, just holes to "improve air flow" around the engine.

a friend rubbed all the glue down and spray painted the same colour looked really good

I would have done the same but they have square holes every few inches underneath them - see photos coming soon.

The seats were so easy after I'd dropped the plan to use Cosworth rails. Big plate on seat mount - then seat on big plate!

Any updates on the paint job!

All in good time son, all in good time. :)

I've got a backlog of photos - bear with me :)

All from stripdown.

Took some time to bridge the gap in the door and fill it with Isopon P 30? 40? 69? or whatever it is.
