I agree with the gaylander 2 comment. Why get one in a frilly dress when you can get the original for cheaper? I do not agree with the qashqai bit, an xtrail if you must but not a qashqai ffs!

Is towing a requirement? My cousin had the diesel Gaylander and it was very capable, although he did chip it. It was OK for gentle off-roading too. Disco etc goes without saying. Not sure I've ever seen an Ejoke with a tow-bar.

Not sure if I have either. I think there may be a removable panel on the back where towball attaches. Wouldnt want to upset Poshs styling now, would they!

Evoque interior probably isn't going to stand up to show stuff being carried in it. For showground purposes, and old D2 like mine is hard to improve on! Plent available at rock bottom prices!
Not sure what the tow rating of an evoke is, I would check carefuly, and not sure how the fancy transmission will stand up to towing a trailer in a field.
I would have thought a FL2 would be a better bet for your needs, though I would still go for the Disco. Tried and tested technology!
Towing capacity 1650 lbs

Not convinced that that is as bad as a SsangYong for looks. Styling is dodgy, I grant you, but in other ways that might not be too bad, short overhangs, ground clearance, looks well balanced, and I guess it is all Landcruiser under the sh!ite bodywork. Might be worth a spin round the fields if it had better tyres on!

Ugly yes. But very roomy on the inside, and V8 with a Towing capacity: 8,200 lbs

A half decent car transporter trailer is going to be what 750kgs.. so that leaves what.. trailering a lotus elise or an MX5 ?

About as much use as tits on a bull.

I'll stick with my P38 !

Actual weight of the trailer itself doesn't matter. If the plate on the trailer says 2500kg, you need a 2500kg rated vehicle to tow it. irrespective of the load on the trailer.

Just wanted to give a quick update and say thanks for making me realise I was going soft! I have put my foot down and told her if she wants her own car then she can buy a little runarond herself or keep her yaris. I however will be getting an l322, I've been looking at a 2010 facelift which I quite like. It has all the toys and will be ideal for towing a boat. That and I would like the off road performance. I also want to do a road trip with my old man and a few mates through europe and on to the alps.

After making the decision she has now messaged me this morning saying, actually I think i proper range rover will be ideal on a day like today! :D She also likes the idea of having something that will cope with a bit of ice as where we are moving is quite prone to bad winters.

I hadn't realised a whole debate had been going on about towing weights of an evoque, a horse in a box won't be likely as the sister has a horse lorry, the don't like horse trailers after one of them decided to throw himself through the front door and nearly had to be shot and cut up to get him out!
