Think ford ran it in some strange named 4x4?

Iirc D3 chassis also copied from another car maker?

Same 2.7 engine in Jag/Peugeo/Citroen, all makes suffer the same ailments ie snappy cranky/spinny shells.

Engine went in loads. Don't know about D3 other than a mate had one (and a D4) and it heavy as f*ck but went like stink for a 3.0L diesel and was lovely to drive until the crank snapped. Don't rrcall the cranks snapping in the Jags but I do recall a plastic inlet manifold that used to warp and cause troubles. Jag had them on the shelf because they failed so often.

Which one?
The 3.0 tdi is pretty much same engine we have. Fairly bombproof
Early autoboxes were made out of stuff like melted down Easter egg wrappings though

Isn’t the crank on an L322 made of Zworovski crystal?

Don't confuse the td6 l322 engine with the tdv6 D3 and rrs engine.
The L322 td6 is a good engine with little issue, it's the gearbox made of cheese they bolted to it causes the problems.

The D3 tdv6 however is another matter with snapped cranks a common issue, oil pumps etc to name a few

The TDV6 SDV6 3.0tdi has a bad rep for crank failure in the UK.

Some say it is not that much of a problem, but you hang around any land rover forum and sure enough sooner or later you start to notice the posts about 3.0tdi engien failure.

Even some of the garages who spicialise in repairing the engines say it is not much of an issue, but if you think about it they would say that as A it is their customer market and B they are making a healthy living from reparing them!

had a series 3 long time had a disco 300tdi long time now on a P38 6yrs had faults with all of them. over the years been all over country and parts of Europe. Look after them and when you are cruising or off roading you love them. When they are broken I still love them but then maybe I'm weird:D
