I have converted my Gary Fisher Mt Tam to Singlespeed and put rigid forks on for the commute... Knocked loads of weight off!

to put it into perspective, I looked at buying an all mountain bike this time last year and I cannot believe how light a 5" travel bike is now. I bought a Specialized stumpjumper FSR Expert in the end. Full suspension bikes had only just been thought of when I started racing in 1996. amazing the development of these things... especially when you look at how long it took Land Rover to go from a series 1 to a discovery 3! hahahaha!

I still have a set of XTR cantilevers at home :) along with mojo peace symbol wire "bridges", (what were they called?).

hmmmm... Ebay? :D

Yeah, I've run this before with rigids, skinny tyres, single chainwheel (but with rear cassette) etc

I'd keep the cantis, I doubt you'd get anything for them, they're only really for posteritys sake ... and yes, I think they were called bridges or bridles ... ;)

Looks decent Paul :) I could shave off another half pound to mine but not much more than that. I could always have a good dump before I ride and shave more off the combined weight LOL. But yeah no point in having a bike thats so light you would be scard to ride it!

This was a little while ago. Only difference now is I have an Alien Cyclops Carbon seatpost on now. P.s the Santa Cruz stickers were put on by the previous owner, it is a Coyote Easton HT5 (before they started making the crap they are associated with these days)

Wouldn't agree on that one, some manufacturers were into their 3rd or 4th generation of FRS by then :)

Off to bed now ....
