last year myself and the little woman indoors spent a full four days laning the length of wales, which took about four days with just the disco, map ,tent and two russells, loads of fun and loads of lanes, but we didnt manage all the ones on the map then we had to abandon a few and there were just some we didnt even get to. So this year we are planing a repeat between the 24 july and 5 august sometime, either north to south or vice versa, so if anyone fancys tagging along that would be cool, as it would be better to have more than one vehicle as last year was hard work at times. so anyone fancy it...

Yea great fun isn't it

I'am up for it, live in the north and done this quite a few times with others, usualy do ones on one side of the country going down, and the other side going up, or vice versa

Good time, cheap (wild camp) do it in winter, more fun, wife & kids enjoy it too

Give us a pm nearer the time meet 1/2 way or somewhere

Hi, I am up for it. Driving a stock standard RRC with only mud tyres on + some recovery gears minus the winch, would that be sufficient??

Well thats good two of you up for it, we just need to decide which way round to go then, i think if theres three of us at least we should be ok no matter what the prob, and camping few beers at night and some good off roading, what more could man want, which of the dates work for you lot, i am on hols so i am flexible between those dates, and traveling is not a prob should you want to start up north.

yeah more the merrier, just need to know what time between the 24 july and 5 august works for everybody, i like the sound idea from welshlaner to go down one side and back up the other, allready got my maps out and marking lanes new and old...

cool sounds great, were abouts you coming from then and do you have any particular welsh lanes you would like to take in...

From West Lancashire (N of Liverpool and W of Wigan), as far as lanes are concerned the more the merrier, I have a std 300tdi Disco with BFG AT's and have had no trouble with North Wales lanes with either me driving or yella behind the wheel, thats rocky or muddy.

Good good, last year we had mud, rocks, water, grass and some pretty dense undergrowth, if we didnt have the winch and land anchor we would still be there now, but we did do 4 days on our own and some of the rougher ones we have got a freelandy down with a great deal of care, mind you the discos paint work did suffer a few times last year, but it was a lot of fun...

paintwork on mine is scratched all over from gorse bushes, axles are scraped so is trans brake, but still has front bumper with lower skirt in place!!! I have now fitted a removable ball tow hitch for some added clearance as that was the only thing that was causing cocern. No winch fitted but plenty of rope and a high lift and hand winch.

sounds just like mine, i started life shiny now it has a kind of matt finish on the paint work, i carry waffles, strops, etc etc, and i have a whinch fitted so we should be just fine, if it gets to bad i get the chainsaw out. ok looking forward now will keep, planing a route as i know most of the lanes how many days you want to do, and you ok for a tent etc.

checked my dates and been self employed to a degree can get most of the week off, have a 200tdi disco, lift, winch, various sets of tyres, don't mind the damage as most of the sides have been t-cut by this years groase. As for the route don't mind know most of the north & mid wales lanes and a few down south gap, sara helen etc and assume would include stratia F which i've done both ways and at night now thats fun.

Strata F is also a lot of fun in the snow, and its also good because soar y myndd links to go back the other way. the only one that bothers me is the bottom of Abergorlech, that goes right of the scales of sanity, as it has gone so bad, last year i came out on three wheels and a fair bit of damage one side. the winters have not been good to that one, but you can get out before that...

Sorry guys, was away from office yesterday...

I am open to either week at this moment, tho the second week would suit my wife better. We're camping over at Billing between 20 - 22 July, and she needs a break in between (WTF for????)....

I'm coming from Leeds, West Yorks..so either north to south or south to north makes no difference to me......as long as we get mud...I'm happy...

Have to introduce myself a little....

I am totally NEW to off-roading and camping in the UK....I came from Malaysia last year and had done numerous off-roading trips and wild camps back there. So, Please do excuse me if I make any mistakes.....expecially those geography issues, town, cities and where they're located.....

ok guys will get working on the maps, start up north we then go down and back in a few days, so i take it thats 4 of us 3 discos and one rangie then, will work on the second week untill i hear otherwise, we should get a good mixture of surfaces, hope it rains the week before then...
