You check all your Earthing and points as part of your maintenance routine? I think not. And no, I couldn't drive it because it was pitch black.
I see far more problems from p38 owners stranded than L322 canbus errors. Just because you're scared of it and don't understand it, you chastise it.
It really isn't a complex system and on the Ford version, it's pretty reliable.
Have a search and see how many issues you can find on here that were related to faulty canbus. I certainly haven't seen one in recent months.

Not scared of CAN BUS, I used to design computer hardware, I just think it's a joke connecting critical and non critical modules on a common data highway. Yes I do check for corrosion on accessible earth points on a regular basis.

I think you would get less "discussion" if you hadn't posted it as a discussion thread.:)

If you post it as a For Sale vehicle, you will probably get more serious interest. I would put a price, fixed or ONO, up to you.

When I have done this with items I had for sale, I did get serious interest, and one chap actually joined the forum to buy a set of wheels and tyres that I was selling.

Selling whole vehicles to established LZ members is never going to be easy, for the simple reason that they know that the vehicles aren't actually very good!

For a clearly intelligent bloke, you can be a bit of a dick at times.
It obviously wasn't meant literally, I was just pointing out that if someone is trying to sell something it's not particularly polite to slag said goods off.
I've already said that once it's available I will do an in depth document saying everything I know about the vehicle. It doesn't need your hearsay, 3rd hand knowledge muddying the waters.
The p38 has its fair share of data networks too which mainly go back to the becm and we all know that when the becm has a hissy fit, the car is dead.
Having a central brain {p38 becm) is no better than having distributed brains on a central network. In fact if you look at modern engineering it is quite clearly a worse solution otherwise distributed networks wouldn't have taken hold.
There are vastly more threads on here about failed becms disabling cars than can bus networks.

I've the Volvo v50, 2006. Fomoco written everywhere.
Every now and then it goes into bfake failure mode. The fault codes are generally come to amount of about 25 on various different modules. The fuse board and its multi pin connectors made of tin foil are the reason. When it goes nips up, you can tilt the fuse box and it miraculously recovers. Pick a tin foil connection!!!

Sorry I did not set out to annoy you, but there are significantly more difficult to isolate faults on CAN BUS systems than on star systems which are not as old as the BECM in the main. Early ETHERNET is an example, one PC playing up on the line and all PC's out of action which is why it was abandoned. A significant number of faults laid at the door of the BECM are in fact not due to the BECM, water ingress being the common Range Rover problem.
I'll go away now and leave you to the delights on your CAN BUS.

I get what you're saying but it is fairly rare that a fault pulls down the whole system.
Both systems have their plus and minus points but saying the p38 system is better is simply not true.
Anyway, none taken and let's leave it there.
