Taking a drink from a bottle is a bit...ott in my opinion. Sure, munching away on a McDonald's while driving is not on but sipping a drink? Nah.

Pay on the spot?

There are 'on-the-spot-fines' for careless and inconsiderate driving, including offences such as undertaking, lane hogging and splashing pedestrians, but the Police in the UK do not have the power to make you pay fines on the spot.
You have 28 days to pay the fixed penalty or request a hearing, otherwise the fine will increase by 50% and you will be reported for prosecution.
If you feel a penalty notice is unjust, you can choose not to pay the fine and argue your case in court.

Hi Data, last I heard on the alco kits was that they carried an 11 euro - why not 10 or 15 FFS - fine but that the french themselves had shelved the fines? Think I read that on the AA website or something similarly informative and accurate. Has it been put back into play?

Plenty of evidence of accidents caused by inattention while drinking from a bottle according to the authorities.
stop, take a break and have a proper drink.:)

My parents live in the south of France and I asked them recently on the breast testers, apparently they are not enforcing the fact you have two as if you actually used one you would for a sort time you would be illegal. Therefore , they are considering changing the regulations to three..... Seriously??? Just don't drink and drive!?!
