A lot of ideas and thoughts, so thanks. A lot of people suggesting a problem somewhere, I should have confirmed, the current heater does actually work, I can heat the cab up but it's just not that good and even with the motor running at full pelt I feel the output at the demisters is pretty woeful. I had the heater box apart a few years ago and resealed it all and gave it a rebuild, refitted it with proper seals to the bulkhead and when I rebuilt the 90 I made sure all the air pipe plumbing was sealed up and fitted correctly but I would prefer a good blast of hot air up the window. I can breath condensation onto the window faster than the heater can blow it off. Sometimes I put a ruler over the passenger side vent to force more air out the drivers side.

I am thinking a heater unit with a better matrix, faster motor but with some sort of additional heat input such as an electric heater booster or maybe a feed from a fuel burning heater.

I like the idea of a fume curtain, I always fancied the sort of canvas curtain with the zippable window.

Hi all, I am just rebuilding my heater box all the foam that was glued to the flaps inside had disintegrated, does anyone know what the best stuff is to glue back on in its place ?

Cheers Flossie got something similar to that what my new doors from sp 4x4 came with wrapped around them, does the foam sit snug into the hole our does it over hang the edges as there was nothing left of the old stuff left to go off ?

I can't remember, it was 14yrs ago now. Look at it whilst working the flaps, you need the seal to stop air getting past a flap when it's closed.
I remember it didn't take long to suss out.
When you've glued the mat on...close it until the glue is dry - clamping it if you will.
The flaps in the lower dash have the same rubbish foam on them too.
I also used the mat there.
 
Make sure it is a 'closed cell' type of foam, if you use the spongy (not used that word for a while!) stuff then it could hold water and give you corrosion issues in the future.
 
Cheers Kwakerman, yes will do . The stuff I am thinking of using is about 5mm thick and doesn't absorb water, only concern is its quite dense so there's not a lot of give in it to form the seal .

A closed cell neoprene expanded foam, ideally self adhesive would be good. You will find it from seal and gasket suppliers, as they use it for... you guessed it, seals!

How much do you need? I have some left on a roll I think... might be enough to do your job.
