What will I be looking for there?-Okay in that case its manifolds off and see if any cylinders are passing engine oil? ie the turbo/s may be fine and you have an engine issue.

I must have done something daft, lynall.i was just thinking pic of full engine bay, and someone may see/say aha I see what you have wrong, you never know we have all done daft things, and had them pointed out to us!

But if a bore was wrecked I'd probably have some crank pressure and I don't think I have. And the oil is coming out of the turbo through the IC to be burned. Not passed the piston rings in to the combustion chamber. Or am I not getting what you mean. Sorry mateWell many moons a ago a bloke called lynall rebuilt his kawasaki 1100 with wiseco high comp pistons etc etc, went like stink but used shed loads of oil, turns out ham fisted lynall had damaged one of the piston rings when installing them and this then quickly wrecked the bore!
So in answer to your question with manifolds off, if any of the ports inlet/exhaust has engine oil in them you have an idea where to look.
Maybe pop glow plugs out for a look see? but tbh I have often seen dirty engine oil on 200 glow plugs, so assume 300 might be the same?
Have you measured the oil pressure?

Yes, I fitted an oil pressure gauge when I rebuilt the engine. Starts at about 3.5 bar when cold at the moment, obviously drops a bit when it warms up.

Cold starting pressure is about 3.5 bar
I've already had the head off investigating this lynall. Had the head tested and valve guides replaced when it was off.I honestly cannot remember any excess crankcase pressure as it was many moons ago (25 yrs rings a bell) but I was also thinking is there a head issue? ie cracked/dropped valveguide etc, but for a couple of hours work and a new gasket it has to be worth a look?

On the coldest mornings it possibly gets a bit closer to 4 bar, but drops as it warms up.and max
