Sorry Ladies & Gents

This isn't a prize winning competition but I wonder if anyone knows what the pipes in the photos are and maybe more importantly where they are supposed to be attached.

The pipes are rubber and were poking up into the engine bay but left loose. I have just noticed them whilst underneath changing the oil in my recently purchased 110 (in need of TLC!)

I have looked as hard as possible to trace the other end but they get lost above the gearbox and transfer box, so without dismantling it all I was looking for a quick answer if anyone knows

If it makes any difference, the 110 has had an engine replacement from the original 2.5 diesel to 200TDi; is it possibly a hangover from the old engine?

It's similar to a windscreen washer hose but both front and rear wash wipe work fine so it's not that.

Cheers !:D

you have them on your axles. transfer box, gearbox. They are breather pipes.

Raised breathers. Might be connected to your axles, might be injun/gearbox breathers.

I suggest you don't go driving through any water with them trailing about like that!

It's possible you might have a wading plug fitted too. Check underside of the bell housing & if you have, either remove it until you (ever) go wading or remeber to remove it periodically.

Looks like transmission breather pipes to me - usually found clamped to the engine block near where the wiring harness plugs in.

Sounds really obvious when you think about it !!

(if you know what you are doing of course !)

ALL - my deepest gratitude - next time we are up the pub together I'm buying !

Seriously though - many thanks and I'll get them fixed back to the bulkhead where they belong !

Get yourself a mixed size bag of cable ties...ebay or Aldi. Always handy. Check they are pushed in to the axle etc and thread them back up right to the back of the engine bay and tie them secure.
