Probably never know, the listings gone again.
The buyer would be somebody that doesn't care about the legitimacy of it or is completely oblivious to the fact that you can do such things to a landrover.
Either way though the seller knows there's something fishy about it or he wouldn't have mentioned the "slight" modifications. Its not good enough to say do what you like if you're doing it for yourself because there's plenty of people out there doing it for a con.

Wow, I couldn't see any one part that would have been from 1964 on there! I don't think it's are going to score too highly on the points system!

I guess the original vehicle was scrap anyway, but the true identity of GHU 507B is now lost!

Its depressing that people can get away with it. DVLA don't care at the moment you can't even report a suspect vehicle to them but eventually it will bite us all in the khyber.

The problem with that is there are only two explanations, either its someone pushing their luck to get their Defender tax exempt and drive it without an MOT (so the chassis can go to hell) , or its a stolen Defender ringed as a Series so it can avoid getting picked up when it comes to the MOT where the false VIN plates will get spotted.
Quite frankly both stink but the second one should worry us all.

Everyone knows hybrid land rovers are being built, that's the great thing about old land rovers you can build it yourself.
It's not being done for any reason apart from building something you want
Noone is interested in the pieces of Land Rover bolted together apart from some people
As for road tax, the amount of none paying road tax hybrids is so tiny its not worth the effort of checking every vehicle
I don't work for the government, let's be safe and be individuals
Finally someone with common sense..... I wonder how many posters on this thread report a neighbour /friend to the TV license people or for any other trivial thing, if you're not buying it get a f*cking life
