I know your all fed up witha nswering suspension questions but i cant find a simple ish (relevent to me) answer.

i have 265/75/16 on a standard height 1994 5dr 300tdi discovery. they tyres catch a bit on the inside lip of the wheel arch as it is when its articulating a bit. my springs have all but had it (about1.5-2" off bump stop) so im looking at upgrading. would a set of HD springs give me that little bit extra height that i need to stop these catching, and making the tyres look like they fit better. Or am i better off considering a 2" medium duty lift.

i dont particularly want to lift it but also dont want to ruin a good set of tyres... will the HD give me that little bit extra i need? (along with trimming the inside lip or the arches).

any pics would eb greatly aprechiated if anyone has a similar set up.

If you want a lifted Disco then a two inch lift would be all you need however a standard height Disco is a better all rounder when not messed with. But if you want extra height then the only sensible way is a lift kit. I wouldn't recommend spring blocks though but that's personal preference.

Why not get a new std set of springs and updated dampers. then if you need to have more height then a body lift is really simple and carries none of the hassle a 2" suspension lift does.

I would rather avoid the 2" lift due to insurance stuff. But want the tyre to fit better . Just dont know if there are many std height options that can help. Body lift is a.consideration

Just fit a Terrafirma light or medium duty +2 kit and be done with it ya nana :p;)

Really wouldn't recommend HD springs, had them on my green 110 and it was a bone shaker.

I would but dad refuses to let me do it so.need to explore other options. Anyone else got 265/75 without a lift on a disco? If so, pics?

Might be helpful if I could get some measurements of what the lengths of springs should roughly be ie spring seat to spring seat.

Why not just fit a new set of standard springs? If your suspension is worn out it will have dropped a bit anyway. I fitted a set of +2" springs to mine and it went up by 3" due to the old ones been shagged.

Hi, got a heavy Duty lift on a Disco I just bought.......and its 'orrible! Way to hard and doesn't allow the axle to articulate. Going to bin the springs and go to std duty. 235/85/16 and a Camel Cut are OK, with BFG muds, but some of the more aggressive tyres will need more cut, with or without a lift,
Dave

my thoughts were its got a bit of kit on it already and im hoping to go on an expedition in the near future so kinda ticked most boxes, anyway springs are ordered now so will probably do a before and after on how much it goes up by.
