is yours a std 300 tdi?
the bracket on the cross member is an exhaust mounting point for pre 200tdi models that used a long bolt and bushes hanger, rather than the later mounting rubber type
best to get tracking done properly

Yes, mine is a standard 300 Tdi, James. Do you know what hanger bracket I am missing?
I will get the tracking done properly when I get the new tyres on. That will be very soon after the MOT and I've got it off the SORN.

have you got center box the right way round, it should have a hangar just behind t/box on lhs chassis rail

Having it the wrong way around is a possibility, but this box has a hanger at both ends. So yes, at there is a hanger just behind the transfer box on lhs of chassis rail. I'll go and take a picture while its still light.

My system has the front down pipe with a CAT in it. The centre box with just a flange on each end of the box and then a pipe that has the tight bend in it to go over the back axle. (no box on the tail pipe)
These are the hangers I took off

You can barely see it in the dark because it is now painted black, but the long hanger bracket is supporting the end of the box beside the transfer box.

Should the box just have one hanger on it?
Edit,
No you said it has two

I've been on to the LR specialist I bought the exhaust from and asked them to check I git the correct box. They've referenced it against my number plate and reckon it's definitely correct. I enquired about the hanger for the rear end of the box and they said part number ESR2131
esr2131_zpstwchstic.jpg

They said Britpart and Allmakes don't make them and their system was referring them to Land Rover parts and it cost £46 +VAT :) I said I wasn't paying that and they said they didn't blame me, they wouldn't either! LRDirect are the same price Craddocks want £79 +VAT o_O
I'll have to try and manufacture something, cos I'm not paying out that sort of money. I'll have a quick look on ebay first!

I've been out to have a look and can't see how the hanger ESR2131 would fit on the chassis anywhere in order to reach the bracket on the box.
It's difficult to judge distances on a photograph, but this is what it looks like. The blue wire I've got holding it up gets in the way a bit.

Can anyone provide a picture of their set up if it's the same age as mine. I think this exhaust system was fitted to Defender 90's between 1995 -1998. Would be much appreciated if you could.

Why worry if you're going to make your own,
just make a plate that will bolt to the bracket in the picture and run some steel bar back towards the one on the exhaust.

mines like that dont think there is a brkt for us ,,if like me your running a 300 in a marslands chassis ive got the same set up as you but not running any silencers ,,,,,straight thruu n thruu lol

The bracket in the picture is about 20cm-25cm back from the hanger so if I tried to make a hanger from there it would be on a very long cantilever. It would have to be very thick bar not to bounce. I thought I was just going to have to make something like that ESRE2131 bracket, but at the minute it's looking like a horizontal Eiffel Tower

It's a 300 Tdi, but on a RC 300Tdi chassis, so the standard set up should fit. I know what your're thinking, Gatso ;)

After a bit of trouble with the starter motor, I think jamming on the flywheel, I got the Landy started today :D
Drove it down the street and back up on to the drive.
Not sure if this video will work.

Still lots to do and I'm also thinking of moving the bulkhead  I'm not happy with it.

Ah! Just found your rebuild thread !! and the video ! Really pleased its running. looks really good too.:):):)

(now watching anorl:D)

Cheers, mate. Really chuffed with it to be honest. Not perfect by any means, but for a first rebuild I think it's ok.

"not perfect" ?!?!? it'll be better than when it left the factory! :)

I'd be very proud of that - it looks superb

Last week I was filling the Mondeo up in Newcastle next to a guy with an old car. "Is that an Austin A40", I said. "An A40 Devon", came the reply. "Looks gorgeous, did you restore it yourself?" "Yes, about 15 years ago. But, you never get to the end, it never stops!"
I've already got a 'to do' list and he's still going through his. :)

I agree. But look what you have achieved - you have a vehicle which should essentially last for ever, with, all things being equal, next to no major expense. That counts as fantastic in my book. :)

I had the same problem with my exhaust. In the end I had to bend the existing bracket to fit had had to have the exhaust cut and joined. When it needs replacing I'm gonna get a custom stainless jobby

Did you rebuild on to a Richards Chassis? Sorry, James, I can't remember.
