Do'er of stuff and the like
Finally got my ambulance on the drive :)

picked it up from p a blanchard on the thurs. 12 hours later... puncture exactly halfway down the halladale pass (40 mile long single track basically) with no torch etc at precisely 11.55pm... brilliant!!!!!

Still got there in the end. The mrs loves the new camper :)

Is that the one without the back doors? Damn things are getting as common as muck around here :D

yeah it is matey. The one from blanchards. I didnt want the back doors anyway as im going to install a vertical hatchback style door which will act as a shelter.

Its actually not that much work to do on it. The chassis is sound enough. With just an outrigger that needs replacing. The brakes dont work but thats easy enough.

Engine is absolutely sweet as a nut though. Oh and there is a halfshaft broken or something. Its got an extra heater and lots of fans etc. The roof vents are corroded so i think we might make some replacements out of plastic with the vacuum former.

Ive started rubbing down the paint this afternoon as thats the top priority (to stop the drive looking like steptoes yard) and i will sort the other odds and sods afterwards. Ive got a set of parabolics and dampers in the shed left over from the mrs old series 3.

Eventual plans are to turn it into a basic camper so the kids sleep inside and we sleep on the roof in a roof tent. Id like to do a conversion to a 200 di but i wont bother with that until its registered.

well chuffed with it :)

You both better have your own threads with lots of pictures on your rebuilds. Could become a LZ fad. Either of you think about adding some height to the inside for more head room?

Not sure yet, a VDub pop-up is a quite popular mod

That and was looking a vils picts and you could remove the roof panel and remake the side panels to a taller height. or even hinge the front and have a canvas shop make sides for you, to retain the look

yeah i was thinking of going for the pop top. Only thing is its got a safari roof panel and i dont want to lose it!

im just going to concentrate on getting it ready for an mot so i can register it before i go down the full conversion route.

My thinking as well, give it a thorough going over and then see what to do.

Took mine for a test drive last weekend a hit the NEEEE-NAR switch by accident while negociating a tight 3 point turn and scared the life outta myself :eek::D
