Can find anything saying yes or no. What are the rules with running amber warning beacons in the uk in the same way tractors etc do to show there is a slow moving vehicle. Can i just run them at all times?

Very max is 50 mph 53 with a good down hill. Thats on the a1 rural roads i tend to do about 40

Flashing amber beacons should only be used when necessary, ie to alert others to unusual activity. A lot of people seem to think they can use them to look important.. eg recovery truck on a job etc. that isn't what they are for

2 places I used amber lights, but one was a flash on off (Airport no rotating beams) and roadworks rotating beams, and on both, once of the public highway you have to turn them off, I worked on film also on props and SFX and drove "Police cars" and you have to cover the blue lights and cover the police markings

Made me larf when taking my PSV. One of the practice videos was a long straight road going down a dip and up the other side with a bin wagon at the top of the hill with its beacons on.
I hit the mouse immediately. The instructor scolded me for pressing too soon at the hazard telling me I had to wait until the bin man stepped out in front of me.

You occasionally see ex-police classic cars driving around. Technically you are supposed to cover the police markings/blue lights, but when it's obviously not a current police vehicle, sometimes people don't bother and the real police turn a blind eye as long as you aren't doing anything stupid. There was an old Crown Victoria based in Surrey in full NYPD livery, but again it's obviously a foreign vehicle and not the real police!
