thanks for advice most help full.do i need to remove side panel under wheel arch for belt tension.Relatively easy job if you can get underneath the car with enough room to work (ramp or pit)
Disconnect battery
Remove under tray
Unbolt and put aside air con compressor (if fitted)
Remove alternator wiring connections
Unbolt alternator and remove
Refit
That’s a very simple synopsis of the process
I don't know the TD4 alternator - but those panels are just fixed by 3 easy to get to bolts - if it makes your life easier (which it probably will), take it off!thanks for advice most help full.do i need to remove side panel under wheel arch for belt tension.
Okay thanks .I don't know the TD4 alternator - but those panels are just fixed by 3 easy to get to bolts - if it makes your life easier (which it probably will), take it off!
Thanks a lot. You'll need to remove the side panel and turn the belt tensioner to remove belt from alternator pulley then refit afterwards. 15/16 inch AF ring spanner fits the best. 24mm can slip and round the bolt head.
how many bolts hold the air con compressor i have taken 2 long 10 mm bolts out and 1 small 10 mm from a bracket and it just twists slightly but wont come off.have i taken off every thing i should have.help please.Relatively easy job if you can get underneath the car with enough room to work (ramp or pit)
