Pinchers

Anyone know how to sort the misalignment problem, it looks worse than it is in the pic, the belts are shredding after a while, ive had a look and there seems to be no adjustment to sort out the alignment.

Use washers to shim the alternator at the pivot points . tricky , and annoying , been there done that . good luck .

The main bolt hole should have a shim that slides in order to take up any adjustment. Perhaps the adjuster shown in the pic goes the other side of the alternator body.

I had this very issue on my V8 classic.

Alternator is on the passenger side, and the stabilising bar was missing from mine.

LR don't make them any more, so I pinched one off my spare engine.

Might be the same issue???

if the alternator is just pushed out at the top (so it's twisted) you could try rotating the bracing bar so that it brings the top of the alternator further back. Knowing what the mounting brackets are usually like this does sound unlikely to be able to happen though.

Are you sure it's the correct alternator for the vehicle?
