Good stuff, any pic's ?
Should be there myself next year, though it is a long way to copford farm.

Grand stuff could always come this far and have a chill then head down! Year after is Stainby (unofficial I think)

Re pics my old man in his 70's was to record my RTV'ing but completely my fault he was cream crackerd. I dragged him out on Sat 3 miles to watch the ccv boys n girls. Last year the yellow 88 leafer broke his p38 steering box on the section, we dragged him out off the section. Caught up with him this year and he was replacing the rear prop shaft then 20 minutes later he was driving back to pits really slot like 1st low. I asked what happened. He said he snapped the front of the chassis!!! Fair do's he begged a welder and was comp safari racing on the Monday!! Fair play!!!

We had LRO Russ folowing us around the sections most of the day and I'm sure bosun cam was clicking away lots. Hopefully some good pics. Plenty of cross axle wheels in the air moments and one slightly too fast 2 wheel moment for me but the landy behaved itself and I was pleasantly surprised!!

We were watching them weld on Saturday night, two rows from us off a tiny generator. Sunday I had a chat as he drove to the beer tent to use their generator for more grunt

Your dad sounds like a star. My dad was helping me last week (83 yr old) and fell over in my workshop, but still got up and did some flatting
I hope I am still comping when I am 70 LOL.

Brian Flanders was there in support of the Flanders clan! Wire brushing hubs before wheels being fitted!!

My old man was great! Spent a week before the Nationals repairing the wrecked caravan, when we got there he was on hand to "advise" on changing wheels! Didn't like the modern battery drill and the original screw jack idea far too fast efficient!! Then leaving went around making sure number plates, lights and even he windscreen was all clean before hitting the road!
Top bloke my old man!! I think it reminded him of his competing days in the AWDC ow some 20 years ago!

I made a clear rule this year if it was stressful or wasn't fun we wouldn't do it as previous years we had done lots and missed out on the fun this year was excellent!!

The old man checking to make sure I hadn't damaged it!

Beer tent for a well earned lemonade for him a few ciders for me!!

I got one other pic but was again after the comp lined up before being allowed to leave! No need we wasn't really in the running for any trophys! Just a cracking weekend with great people and muddy Motorsport!!

The GF had a go at TYRO and got 11. I did the RTV and got 59. Great weekend had by all. Only TYRO pics on my phone though

Like you I will be there for a blat round and hanging out with like minded folk.

Hi guys. I haven't been in the workshop much, the mother in law has copd and is proper circling the drain. Understanably the Mrs isn't to happy so whatever they need I try and be there, hence not posting much.

However I have done a few jobs. I fitted switches and warning lights to the dash. I mounted a box on the passenger side and put in the PCM and I made up 90% of the wiring loom. Next job will be splice it all together and tape it up.
Oh I also fitted a clutch and piped it up. When I was tightening up the clutch bolts I noticed that the starter ring gear was missing. all the time I have had this engine and never noticed that:rolleyes:
Anyway I couldn't get a new ring gear so I ordered a new flywheel which arrived today.

Looks good. It's bizarre how you can miss the bloomin obvious. Like me an the Intermediate shaft. I have replaced. Out of the bearings then I saw that

Well the mother inlaw has finally poped her clogs and the family are doing ok. The mrs was back at work yesterday and I was at home so I fitted my new flywheel and an AP heavy duty clutch along with the box and bolted the engine and box in properly. I also fitted and adjusted the gear cables and filled the box with oil, It feels like I am getting some where.

old and new fly

Box all bolted in, clutch bled and gear cables fitted. As you can see it is a tad tight around the gear selector. I changed the rubbery cable ends for rose joints and made a quick shift selector crank, the brackets for mounting the cables took a bit of getting right but all works ok now apart from slightly heavy across the gate which might be a cable, it's not too bad and I will see what it is like once running.

Whilst I was underneath with the camera I took a few more shots. I have altered the top spring mountings and the springs fit ok now with no issues, those springs have been a PITA.
Also you can see the steering damper mounting bracket, I have lost count of how many brackets I have made, it has become a bit of a joke at work as when asked what I did at the weekend I always seem to say "making brackets"
