I might not be at the Nationals, there are a few things I need to attend to at home, plus if I am here I can get some done on the motor. Now it is getting near done I am putting in more time.
Regards whats left it is mainly pipes and wires plus a hundred bits and bob's, you know all those little jobs that soak up many hours, like making a throttle linkage that is progressive at low rev's but makes full throttle without excessive travel.
Once it is done I need a to get a transporter to move it and tow a caravan, I am thinking an Iveco 5 tonner (more expense) though I do have a Transit and a trailer it's just more comfy with a caravan (the other half won't kip in the back of a Transit)
But yes I am looking forward to meeting some of the guys on here, I did see Jai last year at Stainby. I want a go in that 80" of yours too.
 
Shame you can't make it Owl. Jue's 80 is fun, still itching to try my RRC but it's been broken each trial recently

But it was the working one on Sunday while Jue spoke to the AA to come and service his carb for him
 
I have never been confident fiddling with cards. Best left alone in my opinion. I was right in my suspicion of a blocked main jet though.

It was nice to hear I had a real weber though

I fixed many blocked jets on series motors by taking the air inlet pipe of the carb, reving the engine up high and putting my hand on top of the carb which causes a big vacuum and sucks the crap out of the jets. Just remember to remove your hand before the engine stops or you will flood it.
 
I have been checking the gloss today, I need to flat the roof and put asecond coat on otherwise not to bad, or perhaps I should say ok for a comp motor.
I'm not to sure about the ride height as yet, I think it could be a touch lower. I will wait to see how it goes over bumps as it may also need a different rate.

Have been reading this thread as it has progressed, I am very impressed with your attention to detail. An impressive bit of kit ! Nice to see it nearing completion.

Thanks, it's nice too see a light at the end of the tunnel. All the big stuff is done and though there is still plenty to do theres nothing major.
LRO has expressed an interest in doing a feature on it so that might happen and a mate has a gopro so I am thinking it would be good to finish the thread with a couple of vid's.

Lol. It wouldn't rev, fine on idle but as soon as the throttle butterfly opened there was no manliness jet fuel
 
Yes all weekend, then off to Staffs to visit stutabs mum & dad. Need to replace a drive flange oil seal tomorrow before setting out
 
Joules did you say you and stu are in the same group? No idea what group I'm in yet! Landy is loaded just a few tools and a couple of half shafts and service bits to throw in. Hopefully get the now repaired ish (wrecked caravan) out and try and leave around 12.00/13.00 ish
 
Everyone is at the national and I am in the workshop painting :(
I have put a second coat on the roof, rear cover and the body, plus painted the wings.
The paint is tekaloid tractol. It doesn't cover as well as I would like, though both my Devilbiss guns are broken so I have done it with a cheap primer gun, can't see the point of buying an expensive gun just to paint a comp safari motor. The finish is ok and as said it won't last long once comping and covered in mud and driven through bushes and trees at speed.

First baby means time is even tighter!!

But took the 90 around the RTV course. 44th overall, not ok bad drove it a lot harder having the front end sorted 4 pin HD inner shafts and Max offset rims with new diamonds was re assuring and something half clicked in my head. Only driven 2 trials this year So we did alright very pleased with the motor and happy with my driving on the day.
