My CD changer suddenly seems to not want to recognize CD's.

Question is:-

Has anybody had the same problem and if so did you find out the cause and what did you have to do to get it fixed?

D-tronix want £100 to look at it and fix it.
There are some on fleabay above £100.

Cheers in advance.

The Head unit says "CD Check" or something like that, then comes up with "No DISC"

Would that still mean the reader or could that be the mechanism is not sensing discs?

If the CD loads from the magazine, then it is sensed by the head assuming it rotates.

Thanks for the info Datatek.

You've just saved me some dosh!!!

Took the changer out of the car, took the casing off, poked around inside for a bit, couldn't see anything wrong or broke, sprayed some contact cleaner around, put it back together, back in the car, and bob's your uncle!! Working perfectly again!!!

Did have a slight mishap, before fixing it back in the car, i just connected it up an tested it. What I did wrong was not have the unit flat but on its side. Stupid Boy!! A disc got stuck in the unit and jammed it up. Had to strip it down again to release the disc.

LESSON: Always operate the cd changer flat, not on its side!!

Just got to find out what I did with my Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here" CD now! And no its' not with my Celine Dion collection!!:D:D

Thanks again Datatek for the pointer.
