I am looking to replace my old steel wheels with some freestyle alloy ones and seen some on fleabay,my truck is an 89 TD 90 with rear drums ( I think ) do I need spacers etc what size? And will disco freestyles fit etc. Any help would be good, even better if you know of a set with off road tyres.

I would do a search on here if I were you, one or two people have asked that question before. But firstly I would find out if you do have drums at the back(quite easy to tell because you cant see the disks), and secondly, you will need spacers for freestyles, 30mm to fit centre caps.

Yes thanks but if you search no definitive answer.

I do have drums on back I think the question is what do I need to fit alloy wheels ( freestyle) to my defender 90 (1989). That would answer a lot of people's question

You just need spacers due the offset, the inside of the alloys catch against the hub bolts. Some people grind the alloys where the bolt heads catch and take the washers off but wouldnt advise this. You could try and get spacers less than 30mm (15mm which is what I did) but wont be able to fit the centre caps still. I prefered the 15mm spacers which I had made up than have my wheels stick out too much. By the way they will fit to the rear with drums but its the front with disks thats the problem, but obviously you want both front and back spaced the same. Hope this helps. There are other alloys that fit though apparently but not sure which ones. Hope this helps.

Mate great reply that does help, I like the look of freestyle but boosts also look good and I believe these fit straight on, however get too expensive. Thanks again

Nope.
Still don't fit properly with drum-brakes and you can't fit the centre-caps (looks pants without).

30mm spacers will let them fit plus you retain the centre-caps and with something like the Boost (which doesn't have too much offset) you won't need to extend the arches.

So to get this right if I bought freestyle alloys and 30 mill spacers all round these would fit, what do you mean by offset, would they stick out too much? Ta for advice
