I remember similar damage in about 84 on Benbecula, the guard room received a caravan over the top of the medical centre. My sailing boat was tight behind a building hidden from the wind or so I thought, it was blown on its 4 wheel trailer right across the car park between two parked cars without hitting them! You could follow the skid marks of the wheels on the tarmac.
The cover was torn to shreds though.
There was considerable damage to the type 88 radar on the airfield too. I had to drive a Leyland Sherpa mini bus down the runway that night, now that was interesting, I don't think I sent over 10 mph!
Good luck with your house, I hope you get the landi finished soon

It is quite amazing how many people on here have a connection with these islands! Be it through work or relatives or what ever. I think I remember some one saying about the caravan actually. Didn't the guardroom or something get blown over at some point too?

House is coming on good, or at least I think so anyway, it has a bed and a kettle so it's fine! Yes, I really want to get the Defender home and get cracking on it, although there are 3 other vehicles to do so not sure how much attention it will get!

Unfortunately due to reasons I can't go in to, this project will no longer continue.

I am truly gutted as this was my first Land Rover but these things happen.

I will be selling most parts to raise funds (thread will appear in for sale section by the weekend).

Mr Karl, Alex's old wagon going good?

apart from a wee diesel leak and needing a new battery seems to be, although I did have a bit of an oops this evening when I reversed into a gatepost which actually punched the fog light clean through the body! I must fit a reverse light!
