it is either a single button fob with (possibly) a spider - or a 2 button fob with ECU and an EKA code.

It may have an eka code, but my locks are fubar'd so not willing to risk my only key to get them turned.
 
In that case yu is fuct - if yu dont know what it should have, how the hell are you going to replicate it, coz yu dont know what to try and get :rolleyes:

mite be with talking to yo local LR dealer - see if they can give yu any info.
 
Yup. Gonna get on the blower to the local specialists. No way am I dealing with our local dealer, I really don't fancy remortgaging the house for a £600 disco. Lol
 
yeah - but the dealer might have the key/fob/eka info on record for your motor - and its free - or at least the info is.

The remote can be 418 or 433 mhz. You wont have a spider, they came in later with 2 button fobs, 1996 I think. Have a look at THIS it tells you where to look for the alarm ECU it may help.

It appears I have a fix sorted for it thanks to Belfast Land Rover Centre.

Just need to check it works then go from there.
 
door locks seize up and without enough movement to operate micro switch on lock ,immobiliser wont work properly ,with door card off you can see all you need to
 
Sounds good.

Got advised this morning to take the door cards off and get the wd40 and start into all the connecting rods to unseize them.

They were very friendly, very helpful and were happy to sit and give advice to a n00b despite a huge queue of customers. Let's hope the alarm fix they gave me works tonight. Would be nice to drive it home so I can start on the bodywork.
 
Assuming your disco is a diesel,and like my tdi300 the starter will spin the engine over after the alarm has decided to kill the engine, then if you take a wire from the + on the battery to the stop selonoid on the pump,it will go.If you don't want the sodding alarm to stop the engine again ( like me ) take the wire to your ignition switch and connect it to a switched live.

This was easy, I mean very easy.

I'm not overly willing to post details publically due to the security issue with our discos if I did. But if anyone wants to know I'll reply via PM.
 
On an additional note the fix I used does not involve running wires or even unscrewing trim. Just one small loop o cable. No connectors, nowt.

Well chuffed, big disco is home, first on te list is removing all carpets and sound deadening to get rid of the damp then sort out where the damp was coming from, but my guess is the snow as it does look like there is too much rot so far.

Then I'm gonna tackle sills, not that it needs them badly, but I'm loving the box section sills and fancy a bit of that action.

A few patches here and there to tig in then I guess a quick rub down and throw some paint at it.

We shall see what happens, end of the day it's a cheap workhorse for me and I want to remain true to the landrover way of spending sod all and getting good results.

As I haven't had any time with the wagon, my searches online have not been fruitful when trying to find out where steel stops and alloy begins.

I know I could just look at the disco, but working during the day means it's always dark when I'm home ATM.

Does anyone know a general rule of thumb or is there a pic of a body that's coloured to match the materials used.

My reason is that if I am doing the sills, are the a/b/c posts and door shuts alloy or steel? And if alloy how is anyone joining the steel to the alloy? Bonding?
