My 1997 300Tdi Disco has a two-button alarm/imobiliser/central locking fob.
It does not work from any distance away from the vehicle and must be held up close to the vehicle for it to work. Even then it occasionally needs 3 or 4 presses for it to do anything.
With the driver's door open, for example, or with me sitting in the drivers seat it works perfectly *almost* every time.
I have replaced the battery already and this made no difference.
Random people have suggested the fob needs replacing.
Someone else said it's my tinted windows blocking the radio signal(!).
The local indy Land Rover garage suggested it's the receiver inside the dashboard that's on it's way out.
So... what do you guys reckon??
I can live with it as it is, but if it does stop working one day I will be completely stranded. Any ideas?
