I've had a problem with my defender td5 recently, I was called out of work by security saying my alarm was going off. However there was only the horn sounding, unlocked and started but the horn stayed on!! But after starting went to a very low drone and ceased working all together, now the little red light flashes like mad and on starting the alarm gives a short burst and stops??? This is beyond anything I've encountered before but I've resorted to removing the fuse for alarm sounding. Any advice or help as this is a nightmare
Sounds like you have an alarm problem.... Do all your door switches operate the internal light?
Is light on all the time? Is switch under bonnet ok? Disconnect if you are not sure....
Does the horn stop immediately on turning key to position 2 and start immediately after turning back to 0 ?
Do you have internal motion sensor (pair of small sensors located above the drivers shoulder)?
If you lock it via the key this should not set motion sensor. Does it still sound?
I have internal motion sensors, the alarm has gone of every so often but this is the first time time experienced anything like this. Like I said I took out the fuse for the sounder from under the seat. Wil this stop the horn is alarm is tripped?

This happen to me as well this week. I have only had the landy for about a month so on my check around that you do when you get a new vehicle I noticed a fuse missing so I replaced it and I had flashing indicators and sounder. And everything was alright until this week when funny enough it rained heavy and ended up having to pull the fuse. I can see why the fuse was missing now. So I am wondering if there is water getting into the alarm ecu. There was a little bit of water in the drivers foot well that morning. Was it raining when yours kicked off?.
