The "Confirmation" flashes are determined by the settings within the Becm. Either indicators or sidelights can be selected.
If it's an issue for you, the settings can be changed easily by someone with the becm module on Faultmate, Autologic or Test Book.

its always flashed the indicators since ive owned just over 2 years and it started doing it today so not sure whats going on, and dont know of any faultmates local to me so that ones out of the window and with my job i cant get to a mansfields etc during a normal working day

Becm's can do some wierd things!!
If everything else is working fine, I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. There is Rick the Pick down the coast in Brighton if you fancy a day out, wouldn't take him long to check it out for you.

I had the very same a couple of years back. Been on TestBook but operator can't change the setting!!!??? Been flashing sidelights ever since (1998 4.0). The newer one (2000 4.0HSE) doesn't flash anything since after a couple of days ownership. That's nearly a year ago now. Both used to flash indicators (which I prefer). Must be something in the air up here!

Agree with Irish - this is a setting that can be changed with Faultmate. Also agree with the fact that a BECM can default to settings other than those selected previously. I found that mine went back to sides after a period of off road disconnect whilst we rebuilt the engine!
Curious though that the man with TESTBOOK couldn't change it! Perhaps he didn't know what he was doing with it!

My DSE develops RHD front open when not, indicators not clicking and headlights on dipped beam/full no matter what I did, occasionally.
Following advice on here, disconnected battery *following procedure*, waited 30 mins and then reconnected, reset the windows etc. been good as new since. Think the BeCM gets a little confused in its old age.

Next time I see someone with a Faultmate up these parts I must get them plugged in and changed to indicators again.

What do you mean by "Reset" ?????
well irish rover what i mean by a reset is,i can reset my ecm,by disconnecting the battery leads and shorting the two together with a spanner or other metal object,for around 30 seconds,this drains the memory batteries and clears faults.
worked on mine tho,i had to make sure i took out the keys,as it temporarily did not respond to the key fob not until i had started the vehicle anyway.
it may be different for newer vehicles but for my 1995 p38 it worked

not sure id fancy trying that idea they get enough electrical problems without adding to the chances of more appearing
trust me i was up against it,i was given the info by a fully qualified auto electrician,for a well known company in my area oxfordshire.
see it is not what you know but who you know.

Afaik there are no memory batteries in the P38 and using your technique should not reset faults.Companies would not be manufacturing expensive equipment to do this if it was as simple as that.It certainly did not work on my 1995 P38 when I had a key code lockout.
