1997 Discovery 300Tdi ES. Help! My aircon's broke and im expecting a good summer! Problem: Push ac button on, Button lights up but compressor fails to work (compressor will work if wired direct to battery). Ive just had to strip out the entire dash to replace the heater matrix and pipes (thankyou coyboy bodge it and scarper spanner monkey), are there any controll wires etc for the compressor that i may have failed to reconnect? Also i have just had the head skimmed and new gasket fitted, could this have dislodged any wires? The belt to the compressor is in good condition and the system is fully gassed. Hope someone can help?! Codfather79

All air con systems have 2 safety sensors on them, one is a high pressure sensor and the other is a low pressure sensor. If one of these sensors is faulty the compressor will not kick in. It a safety feature to stop the compressor being damaged. There is also a clutch on the front of the compressor which engages when the air con is swithched on, are you sure the clutch is engaging correctly and not just spinning the front pully. It may be best to have a professional take a look at it. I wouldnt recommend running it with the compressor wired directly.
