hi all,

I have an 02 4.4 l322. I started it up for the first time in 10 weeks (maybe longer), used jump leads and it started no problem with no warnings, lights etc. I started to work the air suspension as during its time sitting the O/S/F bag had lost air and was dipping down. When it started if filled the bag and brought it up to its normal height, I then decided to raise the suspension and it went up with the usual "off-road 30mph max" message. I then decided to take it back to the normal ride height and that's when "air susp inactive" warning came up, the front came down but the rear never, I decided to give it a drive round the block as going over 30 should bring it back to normal height....which it never and I now have a RR high at the rear. I've tried the steering reset but didn't work. It also never went back to normal when I switched it off and locked it. The air suspension switch doesn't work at all either does the lights.

Where are the levelling valves located?

Anyone got any ideas

Could be the height sensors but the EAS has stopped altogether so I think you will need diagnostics like allcomms.
I would try fully charging the battery as a first and then if it's still the same you could try disconnecting the battery following the correct procedure of waiting until the red light goes off on the sat nav unit in the boot and I have heard of touching the two disconnected battery cables together but I have never done that as I have always had an allcomms luckily, and then you may need to try the lock to lock procedure
 
I would deffo say height sensor...your rear height is off the scale, it is way to high.......looks like it has been taken beyond its normal travel and the sensor has picked up dirt.....

wow, never seen an L322 sitting that high before...

what are your air suspension control lights showing ?

and i would deffo recommend you get yourself some diagnostics kit
 
When mine did this it was the height sensor gone out of scale on front strut had to run it to my local independent to reset on his comms system . cost me £20

Deffo makes me think something is stuck! By the sounds of things I'm going to need to get the codes erased. I tried the reset code in the hidden menu but never worked. So I've now removed the battery and put it on charge.

Is there a way to de pressurise the system? I know about the front bags with the valve behind the wheel arch cover but what about the rear bags?

There's no lights on, not even the light in the middle button with the arrows

I would deffo say height sensor...your rear height is off the scale, it is way to high.......looks like it has been taken beyond its normal travel and the sensor has picked up dirt.....

Sensors are mounted on the suspension arms and the subframe.....

Inside the sensor is a wiper arm and a track, if the wiper arm moved to a part of the track seldom used, it can pick up dirt and give spurious readings to the ECU.

The sensors are non-serviable. Often times, they pick up crap and then throw a fault...once the fault is cleared, it may return to normal again.

There is the same valve on the rear too.....

Need diagnostics, the fault reset in the instrument display is just to clear any codes stored in the instrument display only and has nothing to do with the rest of the car. Once you put the battery back on, don't forget you'll have to turn lock to lock to reset the steering angle sensor......

So end result is I'll definitely need diagnostics no matter what to get rid of "air suspension inactive" message and to clear the codes?

I'll get some WD tomorrow and spray these height sensors.

The sensors are sealed, and in any case, WD is not an electrical cleaner.....(unless you get the dedicated WD electrical cleaner from their specialist range!!)

First thing is to get it on diagnostics to see what the fault codes say......clear them out and see what happens.
