resurrecting this thread because its done it again.

Here is the up to date list of jobs I have completed.

- Recon injection pump
- Timing adjustment (it was well out somehow)

After these two, it drove spot on for a long time with the occasional hiccup

Today i did these, because of the occasional hiccup and it takes a while to fire up first time in the day, so I assumed there was a pinhole leak somewhere.

- Fuel filter housing
- leak off pipes
- replaced most of the nylon pipes

it then went lumpy again, i noticed that the pipe going from lift pump to filter is dodgy, it can be moved in and out of the lift pump even when its nipped up tight.

although my lift pump is less than 1000 miles old, I've ordered a new one, also ordered a new pipe that i said i was dodgy, as well as a new fuel filter just to be certain.

lift pump handle doesn't do anything no matter how much crank it to change the position.

after all the jobs today it started relatively easy, but a few revs and it went lumpy and cut out.

am i doing something wrong with letting it bleed / prime? should i just let it idle for a while and see how it goes?
it eventually got better, so I thought to test drive it and it cut out 50 yards down the road, really does not like high revs.

I'm supposed to be taking it to both the workshop to drop the gearbox out and then to Wales in a few weeks so I'm panicking that it isn't going to be done.

is there anything else that i am possibly missing or not thinking of doing.

Im going to put a one way valve between tank and lift pump as i was recommended to.
I am also at some point going to bypass the lift pump and go electric.

doing some research while I await the new parts so any help greatly appreciated.

Still sounds the same as our injection pump problem, again.
Yeah, though the injection pump is within warranty, its still a right hassle.

if i whip the injection pump pipe off and take the solenoid wire off, then give it a crank, not a lot of fuel reaches it

If you take the pipe off the inlet to the filter and crank it do you get a good squirt of fuel?
With the Britpart lift pump I use ptfe tape on the threads of the pipes and do them up pretty tight, I have found quality a little erratic over the years.
Who refurbed your injection pump?

I’ll give that a go next time I’m on it

I’ve noticed that the lift pumps seem to get worse and then occasionally you get a good one which is why I’m just going to bypass it next time. PTFE tape on the threads is a good idea I shall be doing that.

I got my recon pump from Sheaf diesel services on an exchange basis.

On another note, it ran spot on up until yesterday where I replaced the leak off pipes and the nylon fuel pipes from lift pump to filter, filter to lift pump.

I should have stuck to if it ain’t broke don’t fix it 🥲

Dont think the threads have anything to do with the union seal, that is on the end of the pipe.

I may have replied earlier, but bypassing the mechanical lift pump and fitting a Facet copy one off of ebay works well.

What have you replaced the nylon hoses with?

I'd suggest replacing them with clear fuel line so you can see any air leaks/bubbles and track them.

Think we will do that next time.
Crap old pics, but you can see what I did, pics dated 2015 and all still okay.
Just wired to a toggle switch under the dashboard.
Car runs fine even with the pump switched off, but will lack power on hills until you switch the pump back on.
Also makes filter changes and bleeding it a doddle.

Can you run a diesel supply directly into the filter or fuel pump to rule out either of them it may give a real direction to the issue my mate🤔

Nylon hoses replaced with black rubber fuel rated hose. Didn't go for clear as it was running fine with the nylon lines

I did the diesel supply test last time it did this (before the recon pump) and didn't really point us in any direction, will give it another go though.

I've ordered an electric fuel pump as its just the better option, see if it makes any difference.
