Hello again everyone!

Looking to pick up an air compressor for the girlfriend's dad for christmas, I know he wants it to be capable of running an impact gun and also a paint sprayer but other than that there are minimal requirements.

Not being clued up in this area I have turned to you wise folk for advice.

What should I be looking at? Capacity? Price?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Matt you must be more specific! You say spray gun? But for what ? A complete car re spray? Or just for the odd panel? The size and relative price are determined by your needs regards Chris:D

Thanks for your reply. That is as specific as i could have been at the time as i didnt know it would make a difference.

Ive spoked to him a little more and he seems to be thinking along the lines of a 50L capacity one. Apparently impact guns require a constant feed so 50L is required however the paint spray gun i dont know a lot about. Id imagine it wont be for a full landy respray but maybe panels here and there.

Again thank you!

Matt I have 2 compressors that I can advise on! The first is a very good piece of equipment! The Clarke se16c compressor, twin cylinder 3HP 230v 150litre with 14CFm! It does all that is required and more, full resprays are perfect its got plenty of puff and you never run out at the wrong time, ive sprayed quite a few cars with this and its also perfect for all air tools price? 500 pounds sounds a lot but worth every penny! Next the 50 litre Clarke panther 2.5 HP, 9.5 cfm, will be OK spraying small panels but does run out of puff quite quickly as do all 50 litre machines the 9.5 cfm means that it will also run quite a few air tools price? Approximately 200 pounds kind regards. Chris

Thanks chris that is really helpful! What is cfm sorry? Ill definitely take that on board. Are there any brands you are aware of to stay clear from?
Again thank you :)

Matt two measurements are used psi pounds per square inch and cfm cubic feet per minute! Simple rule get a compressor that has approximately 1.5 times the cfm airflow at the correct psi, than your air tools require! I'm assuming you will only use one at a time! Otherwise you have to calculate for all of them. That way you don't overwork your compressor regards Chris:D
