Gentlemen of the forum,

Can I thank you one and all for the dozens threads, links, points of information and answering of a newbies questions over the last few weeks.

On Saturday last I picked up the Oxford Blue 2000, Vogue 4.6 automatic Range Rover. I spent a good hour and a half going through the check list and indeed an extended drive, to ensure everything works. In the end only two points picked up, neither heated seat works and the air con fluid/water issue in passenger footwell. Everything else worked and was tested and demonstrated to my satisfaction. As a result I was able to negotiate a further discount and extended warranty, plus was supplied with a new rear indicator along with all the documentary evidence needed to verify its a genuine 56K, two owner vehicle backed up by Land Rover letter and invoices plus service manual. Never had a tow bar on it, never been off road and suitably sound underneath for a vehicle never exposed to salt.

So began an epic 760 return journey (full test run....;)....) to my home town interspersed with 5 collections/meetups to gather in a range of service items, tyres, side steps and spare airbags to take home. Needless to say she performed without a blemish until the last 30 miles when a dreaded "beep" forced my eyes to look at the dashboard ..................what could it be.......oh, failed rear stop light!!!!

It takes a bit of getting used to in the pilots seat, needed to look much further up the road, learn to time the flick left, then right aspect of roundabouts better, the initial lack of response to accelerator input. The lights and brakes though are very good, the refined ride and lack of noise excellent.

It was with a huge sigh of relief as I rolled in at 8.10 am today to park it up. unload it, wash and tidied it up. My neighbour swore when I showed him what I'd bought.....:)

Next step to get her fully checked over by my own mechanic, use quite a few litres of Dinitrol to preserve it, do a full service including gearbox and coolant system. Any other suggestions to include in the above?

I will also renew a few smaller items, wheel centres, the odd touch up, Back to Black the grey plastics, and finally properly detail and wax.

I will also bring in the documentation to my local DVLA office and get her registered with a local plate.

Thanks once again guys

Get the O Rings replaced ASAP - leaking O Rings can play havoc with the BeCM through moisture and condensation....

Looks tasty mind....

(and it is Coolant that leaks from the O Rings not A/C gas :D)

I checked the driver side carpet on tunnel, as dry as a bone.........purely as a preventative measure you're saying?

Think you'll find if its wet on passenger side it's blocked air con drainpipes you have to crawl underneath to clear them out , but a nice looking motor
