hello
i am new here but am in love with defenders.
need some advice please.

i have the option to buy either a 1999 Defender 50th Anniversary edition in a very good condition or else a properly built 2000 defender 90 that has been modified from the chassis up, it has a 4.6l v8 with auto box and loads of modifications.

i intend to use my landy as a fun vehicle, not for daily use.

i am inclined towards the 50th cause it was built by the factory with a v8 and i think that these editions will become collectable later on.
then again when you look at this modified 90 you forget the anniversary -it is a beast :)

my friends who have defenders and know about the mods done to the defender told me forget the anniversary and go for the modified 90.

what do you think please?
thank you

Got pics of the modified 90?

If the 90 is tasteful on a galv chassis etc I'd be tempted to go that way. How have they hooked up the auto selector, as the 50th has a special centre console.

Depends if you want it to be worth money later on. If you use it as a toy then it will get knocked and bruised.

If thats the main aim then get the modified one and use it. If not get the 50th and look after it, then when your done with it you can get a decent return.

thank you for the replies.
i went to see the modded defender again, it is an amazing machine.
the owner spent a lot on it.
but i am loving the 50th for all the reasons you are describing.

i am still undecided :(

the 50th looks too 'normal' against this modded one but i know it is a special edition and i like it a lot....

Sounds good........just take out the V8 and throw in a Diesel:D

I have had both and can say a V8 brings a big smile on your face, but is let down by the fuel consumption :-(

I now have a tuned 300 and love that just as much so it's a hard one.

I say keep the V8 and LPG it best of both worlds

so what do you think -decide for me :)

i cannot get both :)

That sure is a motorised accessory shop :D

Looks nice though does have 'steal me' written all over it.

You decide dude, buy the one you really like as it might be the only chance you get in this life, you never know whats round the corner ;):)

If your using it for a toy get the 4.6 , got all you would ever need on it, got the diff locker. Only one thing in it i dont like is bonnet scoop but thats my oppinon! Looks very good defiantly turn heads with that, if your thrashing it off road would be a shame to use the 50th defender. An its a soft top! look very nicely modded mate :)
