they're both chav mobiles get a proper landy that you can take out and get muddy and scratched to buggery.
 
insurance will not be a problem.
i will be using the landy maybe once a week to commute to work and just for fun.

i know that a landy is built differently from normal cars/4*4 but this one was built with a v8 by a local garage, the 50th was intended to be a v8 landy from factory.
would that be a point of concern?

I dont see why it would be a problem, diff and drive shafts can take the power n torque , im assuming its a 4.6 from p38 and autobox, transfer box aswell?
Aslong as its had all relevant paperworks done to DVLA to infrom of engine change etc i think its a nice motor , very unique :)

If it was my choice i would go for the 4.6, as its pretty unique, would be brilliant off road with diff locker, suspension and tyres :) swop bonnet and if your planning to use it alot LPG it ;) but thats my opinion but sure people will have other views

4.6 definitely. If the 50th is standard your going to spend a fortune adding bits to it, if that 4.6 is what you really want. That 4.6 has just about everything you could possibly want on it. I bet there is 20k worth of kit there. An engine from Rpi would set you back 4k.
 
4.6 for me:) I'd spend a fortune trying to make one similar and its all done and ready to go, plus it looks like a big money build going by the parts fitted not a DIY hit or mis special!

hello mikeh501 the owner told me he spent very close to 20k in fact.
i did not know that those parts are so expensive, i am new to the scene.

dieseldo ... you sound exactly like all my mates who own landy's! they told me buy this cause it has everything you need and more.
 
have is it got a galvanised chassis? cant quite tell from the pics. if the 4.6 has one then its a no brainer.

if either of them hasnt then id ensure you have a very very good look underneath at the usual spots.

God for 4.6 it was a v8 originally so that stops your worry there, the guys bothered to spend tht much on it and make a video they obviously put alot of effoft and care and money into it :)

the vehicle looks immaculate from what has been posted and with the addition of a galv chassis its going to last. Them pictures are from 4 years ago, is it still as immaculate as it looked then? same components, or replacements?

If we assume for a second that the 50th has had a ground up renovation like that 4.6 and they are comparable (i.e galvy chassis and quality extras) minus the extra bling (like bonnet, wheels etc) of the 4.6 id probably go for the 50th.....

however if that 50th is pretty much as land rover intended and hasnt had the benefit of a ground up restoration including galvy chassis and hasnt got the specific bits you want (wheels, tyres, winch, bumpers etc) then id definately go for the 4.6.

The problem with 50th's is that although special they are subject to all the same problems as every other land rover. a ground up restoration like that 4.6 is worth a lot..... a 50th with the same treatment is worth more tho! :D

not sure where you live, but obviously ones a soft top and other is a hard top, surely that makes quite a bit of difference! whats your preference.
 
I would not buy someone else's modified truck because they would change it in a way they like not the way I want it.
Do to answer your question 50th is the truck I'd get.
Easier to insure and sell down the road to.
