Help! just had to replace my discs and calipers on my Classic '93 and am now bleeding system - oh so complicated. Trouble is, I think the ABS pump has gone, as although there is pressure,(but nothing fromthe bleed nipple) it is making an appalling noise. Question is, do I need this pump or ABS. I only do 3,000 miles a year, using the "Beast" for logging and am not bothered about having ABS anyway. Any suggestions would be gratefully received, as I see that a new pump is around £400 ++

Hi Geoff, as far as i know if the car is fitted with ABS from the factory then it has to function correctly for the MOT test, so if you remove it the car will possibly fail. Having said that i could be wrong as my experiences stem from a period af Daewoo ownership (don't ask).

Hi chris
Thanks for the info - it is factory fitted ABS, although it has never worked since I have had the car (about 2 years now) and it has always got through the mot! (I do have a friendly MOT man though!)

Hi Geoff
My classic Range Rover 300 Tdi LSE has the same problem. The local Land Rover specialist told me to convert back to standard brakes which he said would not be a problem. I will not be doing this as the car needs to much welding now so rethink is required.

Think I will have to have a rethink as well! Might check out my local scrappy to see if I can find one off a wreck!
