Hi all,
After 2 years without a Landrover I have decided to buy another and have been offered an early Freelander TD4.
Problem is, the ABS Light stays on when started and when driving. Any ideas what it could be and more importantly how much will it cost?
Thanks

Hi,
Yes the ABS light stays when the car is moving. I only know this through a third party because I haven"t seen or driven the Freelander as yet.

normally if there is a problem ABS light stay on with TC , HDC depending on the malfunction
potential issues
~ABS failure
~ABS and EBD failure
~ABS ECU not connected
~Failure of ABS sensor
however it is not cheap to fix

To understand what the problem is you need to put a code reader on the car. You will need a Freelander specific reader. As you may not buy the car - its probably not worth buying a reader - better to take it along to a garage that can read the codes - I seam to recall someone saying Halfords do this in the UK?

Its only when you know what's wrong, that you'll be able to determine how much it will cost.

You say you've been 'offered' this Freelander - does that mean you know its history? If its a goodun, it may be worth taking a hit on fixing the ABS, you never know what you might end up with if you let it go!
