Hi all, My 2001 4.6 has failed MOT on abs & tc lights illuminated, i have changed rear left sensor as was told this is throwing a fault code. I tried to have it cleared today and still have same problem, i went through this problem a few years ago, same problem, same sensor! I ended up having to have a new brake boost pump etc. i think the abs ecu was changed also.

The ECU currently fitted is Part no- SRD100501, does it have to be an exact match or one of the same later model/year be any good, can't find exact match other than brand new and close to £250.

I am looking for a fellow forum member with a late P38 that i could check using their ecu prior to getting a replacement- Can anyone near Newport, South Wales help please??

:confused::confused:

What was the exact code being thrown. If it says something like " Distance between sensors..." The most likely culprit is the ECU.

As far as i remember it was "Short Between Sensors'', this was read on a 'snap-on' reader. It is strange as had same problem 2 years ago, same sensor etc. and cost me a fortune, just want to test using a good ecu prior to forking out more dosh..............:(

I'm almost positive it's the ECU. I had the same code. I got an ECU from the junkyard and the problem went away.

lilweazel, thanks for your replies, 'hoping to try before i buy' but might have to take plunge and get one, then if not the problem hopefully re-sell it........could really do with getting this sorted as tax up soon too, bl**dy cars!

Thanks anyway
