I've recently bought a TD5 defender 90 year 2000, dont know if thats a good or bad thing yet lol, as i've always had 200 and 300tdi's. But any how so far im quite happy.
A few questions thou, what sort of milage should i get out of one? I can drive it normally and watch the fuel gauge go down. I havent done any tests yet, but i put £20 in it the other day and i got just over 100miles from it.
How fast should it go as standard? mine is very quick up to 60mph, but from 60 to 70 it is sluggish and feels like it over fueling or something, thats if you put ya foot down on the peddle, if you let it creep up to speed from 60 it seems ok any ideas? i would'nt want to go any quicker than that thou as it is quite noisey lol.
cheers

I get around the same fuel economy if driven gently from my 110 but I have a roof-rack, mud-terrains and lots of gear on it too. If I took everything off, I reckon I'd easily get 35. Mine is tuned quite abit and has a Disco transfer box which makes a big difference. Get about 25-27mpg when towing

Speed wise, it'll pull past 100mph no problem at all and I'd imagine it would keep going for another 20mph or so if I was feeling brave enough.

I had the same problem for a couple of days with it feeling like it's over-fueling and wouldn't pull beyond 3000rpm when under hard accleration. would creep to about 4000 under light load alright but would suddenly die at around 4500 as if you flooded the engine with over-fueling and boost dropped off immediately on the nanocom.

It was the waste-gate acting up on the turbo. Solved that problem by ordering a VNT turbo :D
