No worries, my Rangie is fine.

I have +1 in over reacting.

It was apparently just a loose wheel (rear left side)

I find that weird as i saw with my own eyes wheel close into the hub, nay could i rotate the nuts by hand.
I didn't jack it up tho. Maybe if i did that i'd figure it... I just got a sheet over my brain wanting to fix my car ASAP that i didnt take a proper look.

Was actually 60£, for the workshop refitting my tire :D

Monkeys have been known to cross-thread a nut and f*ck the threads by just wanging it on with a whizzy gun. John Dennis 4x4 outside Aylesbury for 1. I'm sure there are other muppets out there though.

Well, my quick loose wheel problem wasnr complicated enough for my rangie. It decided to eat its own AC belt, Just now…

The sound was like a shot bearing, but it was not consistent. Anyhow had nanocom in, so worst fears were eliminated as it wasnt the waterpump i swapped 2 months ago.. But my ac belt.. (it was flung around by the viscous coupling and probably just hit stuff.. dosnt look like any other damage has been taken atleast...

How ironic, as my book symbol on hvac has been gone for 2 weeks...

Maybe i had a to stiff angle on the ac pulley, dunno.. belt had to be tight tho

yea i don't think im gonna bother doing the ac belt before summer time ish. I'm probably due a new compressor anyhow. Could hear it grind very much whilst turning it around when i took the ac belt off earlier.

I actually even used it today without any issues (prog button) to clear the fog.

Probably my fault the ac belt snapped. Maybe i tensioned it to much? I just did the logical thing. Didnt read RAVE onbviously..

Anyhow, ive got a small question.. im about to join the army for a year.. (unvoluntary) and i dont know what to really do with my P38… I dont really want to sell it. So, what can i do to keep it alive the periods im not home? I would probably not even drive it 200KM a month in that 1 year due to living at a camp.. In general i suppose cars are not ment to just stand still.. Things detoriate whilst standing still ay?
I want to let it be as good as now as it will be the day i can start fully using it again. Oil change is obv number 1 after ive leet it stoood still for so long but… anymore?

my oil change interval couldnt be more perfect i think, as i still have a solid 5000KM to go. I change each 10 000. Ive only done 1 time tho.. Changed it at 280 000 im on 284 500ish now so i guess next oil change could be 14 months till. Is that a long time? Im probably not gonna drive more than 5000km by theese 14months

I’ve recieved my new dynamo. A Bölk one. Hopefully not trash.. 105Amps 200£
Also my fusebox… i ordered it a month ago from craddocks. Not even sent :( not in stock..

But also, now that my AC belt is a gooner, will prog button not de-fog my windscreen? must i just press the windscreen button then? I believe they do the same, just the prog activates the rear aswell maxing the fans? (And why is ac needed for prog to work?)

AC will remove the moisture from the air inside the car.

Run the fuel down and then fill it to first line with premium diesel. I would unlock it, take the battery off and maybe put that with a solar panel somewhere to trickle charge it. Put the car on 4 axle stands to keep the weight off the tyres and inflate all tyres to 40psi. If you can store it in a barn or garage so it is out of the weather then so much the better. Beware rodents in the engine bay. Traps / poison / whatever works. After the year laid up change the oil and fresh fuel. You might have to enter the EKA and sync the key but once the fuel has gone through it will probably fire first time and be off ... unless the rodents chewed something.

In norway we have taxfree diesel (colored), and diesel  Ain't no premium here.
We have 95 octane, and 98 octane.
Probably some weird Shell Super 95 and super 98 but i never fill at shell anyhow...

Only diesel difference i know is in the North were they have winter diesel. i suppose there some extra additives as its cold there. I've just heard of it tho, so dont take my words for it.

I will probably get it snug into the garage then barefeet on stands! Also put down a trap or two under the chassis, perhaps some poision underneath the engine so thoose fellas ain't eating my car away..
Theres a bunch of cats in the neighbourhood anyhow, they eat mices :D And im gonna buy a humidifier or something to keep moisture away ;)

Sounds like i have a plan to let my p38 survive then.

Btw, both my keys are kneckered... i unlock with key, and disabled eka in nanocom so i dont get that bugger anymore.

even tho i have hot air circulating the cabin? is that not enough to remove the moisture
Hot air holds more moisture which then condenses out as the temperature drops. Good practice on a P38 to run the aircon all the time.
To leave your P38, either connect a maintenance charger A solar panel and regulator does the job, or disconnect the battery.

If you have disabled EKA, you need to disable the immobiliser or you could end up in trouble.
Leaving the car, I would brim the tank to reduce the likelihood of bacterial growth in the diesel.
Anti waxing additives in diesel are common in winter even where I am in France.

Yes, they put a lot more of it in up north though. They have to. I don't suppose many people bother with diesel in Russia but @Gunnerhavesome will know for sure.

Just digged into the new dynamos packing, mmm mmm does it not look nice comparing new to yeeeeeeears old car parts.

It has a volt setpoint of 14.42 so i guess im swapping out the regulator with the 14.7 one. Isn't it weird how they don't increase the setpoint if its so much better with 14.7 instead of 14.2-4 on p38? or perhaps its just a alternator which also fits the "bmw" bmw m51 diesel?

it is a stc 2227 which i believe is the correcto

Ripple current of 18.1 A, 0.7mA leakage and 899 cut in speed rpm, 1000 rpm turn on speed.

Says me nothing :D
