Just 1 week into the strip down (managing to get a few hours each day) and it’s going... ok! Body off, engine and trans out... bulkhead next... I want to do a full thread on the rebuild eventually. Few pics attached.

Whats your bulkhead like? are you looking at galvanizing that?
The bulk head is actually very good... it was one of the reasons I bought this one, I knew the chassis was shot. A little corrosion behind the door seals, but think this can be managed and either treated or cut out, but other than that bh is surprisingly good. Other than that pretty good everywhere else. Some galvanic corrosion on seat box sides and same area on tub, but again repairable / replaceable.
 
I'm going to start mine. Bulkhead needs repairing, chassis has been patched but I'm going to re-chassis and be done with it!
What chassis you buying?
 
So my understanding is that marslands use the pressed C sections from the old Land Rover factory, but are at 2mm and Richards use cut and welded 2.5mm, overall I think the are comparable, but at 2.5mm its 25% more material, so galvanising aside... should last 25% longer! and as my mechanic friend pointed out - we've seen the condition of the original pressed C rails, so paying a premium for what's rusted through! I don't think there is much to chose between them, both get good reviews and from the opinions I gathered (most people said stay clear of other companies due to issues with alignment etc), Richards is a little more substantial and they have been making them for a considerable time). On this basis I also considered cost and Richards won out - Im happy with the decisions and know which ever I picked I would not be disappointed, but the saving can go towards the many many other bits I'm going to need!! :)

Also, not that I opted for it, but Richards offer 0% finance which can help spread the cost.

I am also getting ready to carry out a chassis swop on my 90, ordered my Richards chassis back in November and requested a delivery date of March giving me time to prep the chassis before I SORN the vehicle 1st April and get stuck in! Was in luck that on the day I placed my order I did a check of discount codes that might be available and sure enough I found one on their Facebook page which has effectively covered most of the delivery cost. :D

Don't have the luxury of a barn / workshop as per your photos (very envious) so will be doing it all on the driveway. This has the advantage of being covered by a cantilever carport however with the driveway being only single width it means that the new & old chassis will be parked in line (not side by side) making it slightly more difficult to move large / heavy items around. Hopefully my neighbour will not mind me stepping onto their driveway from time to time. :confused:

Looking forward to watching the progress. The rulz say lots of pictures on a rebuild thread are a must. Better if they are the right way up though! ;)

You can never take enough pictures. Take as many as possible, from all angles, of every part, before you take it off. :)
