Well, I've never noticed a problem with my windows so I reckon ok without them.

don't understand what you mean about the paint being surprisingly good.........

Gatso's lightweight made Classic Land Rover magazine! Awesome, I'll try to find a link to some pictures.

Yeah, a series is not gong to be your daily commute to work vehicle.
I'll leave em out then they just rattle annoyingly!
Inside the door haha. Somehow it hasn't all fell off yet :D
Ooh I'll have to lookup after work! Bet his new 90 will too!
Haha glorified tractor take you all day to get where going! Nothing would stop it though haha

Yeah got most of them figured out but a complete mare you're right. Hoping it'll be long enough without extending need to offer up new dash and see. If I make warning light on left of new panel should (hopefully) be okay.
The td5 clocks turned up today so weekend job sorted haha see if transducer and disco running gear anywhere close..
I was thinking dark grey with a black roof and wheels. Saw a nice dark green one other day though. Two tone like top half was black bottom green. Black bonnet too
Looked interesting might be changed my mind, more landy colour too.
Hoping to get nearly done before op then can get painted when I'm off maybe
Then just internal cosmetics. Still tons to do though

I was just reading a series 3 rebuild it was amazing! Then at the end he says it got damaged in a tractor incident I was hoping for a happy ending haha:eek:
I'll have to give it a read! Thanks for the thought :)
No bother. We were talking about the quality of his work the other day and I said I would try to find some pictures. I'd forgotten I said that until 10 mins ago. Don't know why it popped in to my head. It's an awesome build, but he sold it  :(

Haha I always get random things I forgot pop in my head like that! Like couple hours ago was like oh bellhousing bolts. Are standard ones okay, did it ages ago :D I'm just thinking when I've done this I want to do a Series or 110 double cab pickup then thought I can't keep three. So I'd have to sell, then like but I like both  don't know if I'd be able to sell one I built from nothing

Yeah, I saw your bell housing bolt post. Top one is tricky. Do it with the bonnet off, so you can stand right over it.
I can't see me ever parting with mine. I don't know how Gatso did. Having said that, if you're set on doing quite a few (like Aaron Morris) then you must have in mind parting with one or two.

I did them from the tunnel on a long extension bar was dark didn't notice till next day be easier from engine bay
I knew they'd be strong enough cos 8.8s and cut them to perfect length but wasn't sure if any other reason for them to have flange ones
If this build works well I might do it again but more in depth few things diffirent. Maybe a 110 one with pickup
I always wonder if anyone makes a profit I mean so expensive to do and buy bits. Spent 7k on mine now:oops:, prolly 2-3 more to spend. I mean painting be like 1200 ish. Plus few more trim bits to buy. no idea what it'll be worth done if I'm honest just enjoying doing it so far. Learnt alot I'd like to strip an engine looks super in depth from the series thread earlier though. Need more space haha

The costs soon mount up. I didn't total mine in the end. I've got the receipts, just not the bottle to add them up ;)
You probably know I've just stripped my engine and I'm part way through rebuilding it. Spent about £1100 on it

On just the engine?
Yeah I've been watching your thread very interesting to see how it works inside more clearly
I keep totting mine up as I go cos I didn't when I did house up and I wanted to know what I'd made got no clue now thougg haha. Spent 300 just on seals other day! Doors windows etc. Clocks finally turned up today though so weekend gana put dash in mock em up and try sort wiring as much as can. Need to order timing kit and tdci vent duct yet. And the air cleaner. Still mounting up :D
What do you think a 300 tdi with tdci innards be worth when done? I'm doubting I'll make money back as it's going now :D
Some new rear glass was 45! Everything LR stupid money :p only good thing is sell for stupid money too

Yeah, that's just the engine.
I'd estimate 6K on the body, but could well be a lot more. I'm probably being hopeful there
It's hard to judge values. Loads of people put posts on forums like LZ to try and get others to value their motors. Best thing to do is surf ebay and such for weeks to watch what similar vehicles go for. Even then, there's build quality and other details to take in to consideration. In general, I think vehicles kept standard go for more than modded or hybrids. :(
For your next project get something like a Series I or II, restore it to original and make some money. Probably won't want to sell it though!

Damn! That's my entire budget so far
Not seen many similar to mine to be honest. I'm hoping as the main mods (galv chassis and tdci bulkhead are mainly improvement like no rot and a heater that like.. works haha it'll improve not lower. Why I want to put proper air cleaner etc in rarther than snorkels and crap like that)
Hoping the quality will be good when it's done haha. I'm too much of a perfectionist not to. House ended up pretty nice so odds are nice :D
I have noticed defender values are completely random though. Like. Completely  not that I'm planning to sell anyway hopefully it'll be too good to ;)

Haha if I restored a 1 or 2 I'd have to buy a farm to keep it on :p
And maybe some plus fours :D

Just looked at the pics; how did he sell her! :eek:o_O:confused: Was a beaut. I'd quite like one of those wolf miliatary ones to be fair bit newer like haha. I've not seen a lightweight in person before they look so skinny though!
It must have been hard to part with it. Maybe he got good money - I hope so!
I've seen a few of them. Would prefer a Series I though. Spent a few weeks looking at a few barn find ones on ebay, to see what they were going for. Then the engine packed in on mine, so that squashed that pipe dream :)

Can always do the series next :p
I'd be in two minds if did a series. Keep it factory or go like tdi and new axel etc route
How much was a decent barn find? I seen a few but seemed alot for the work they needed
Those ex mod ones go for stupid money too

The ones I watched went for £700 up over, but were proper barn finds/been left out in a field. Not what you would call decent. :) Silly thoughts really.
