I managed a bit of tinkering today before watching England embarrass themselves in Ireland.

I picked up a replacement set of seats from paddocks that are for the series III but fit straight into the military seat frames. Frames came out, wire brush on the drill and a coat of hammerite had them looking like new, and seats fitted. Looks a lot better now than ripped originals, plus I now have head rests! Much softer than radio dexion.

One nice and easy job was fitting the diff guards - gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet seated them nicely.

One more decal added next to the tyre pressure stencil..

And then the final job was fitting the pick axe head mount to the front bumper.

I know that the standard front mount is on top of the wing, but this mount does also have a military pedigree as seen here:

I like the grill on the pinkie, picky of mine (hopefully).

Had 2 series headlight finishers that I slapped some green on and used them to hide the rusty rims, all the bits line up so why not. I think they kinda work.......in the eyes of the beholder.

I think they look good! I was just curious as not seen them before.

£100 worth of bearmach standard 90 springs and a set of exmoor trim front rubber sound deadening mats ordered... let's see what difference these make to comfort levels!

I've been thinking of getting standard ones when these run out. Back end literally bounces over speed bumps. What mats you bought? My one over gearbox disintegrated.

I think that's looking really smart; where can I get the wing vent covers?

Thanks! The beast looks good too. Was very tempted by that style steering guard too. Is it effective?

The vent on the side is from a land rover wolf, the cover over the heater is a military snow cowl - both obtained through fleabay. The Wolf ones don't come up that often though unfortunately.

Fark that's expensive! Will just stick with my nothing lol

Tell me about it... I had a little cry of panic when reaching for the credit card - then remembered why I went for paperless statements and told the wife I'd cancelled the account ;)

That is expensive for the sound proofing. I've sprayed the external side of the bulkhead and gear tunnel with POR15 rubberised paint. May also stick some general rubber matting over it. I also worry about trapping water under mats promoting rust.

The steering guard is a military one, just cheaper and easier to fit.
Got a vent cover off fleabay, thanks.
