its in 4wd all the time ,do you mean you tried low box and it doesnt shift ,which is usually motor on transfer box ,or t/box ecu under passenger seat

i have a 4.0 v8 on a x reg the auto box as two sides when i go over to the left side of the box thats when all the blipping starts but the car will still drive but the noise gets on my nerves

Read the owners' manual. The left hand side of the gear selection is for low range - not four wheel drive - Range Rovers are all permanent four wheel drive vehicles. Are you trying to select low range while the car is moving? Why do you need low range? Are you trying to mount a curb outside the local wine bar?

you could try putting fuse in position 11 iirc in becm under drivers seat ,it should make motor turn and put t/box in neutral , motors a simple job 3 bolts at one end one at the other plus connector ,if you unbolt it you can try shaft poking out of box with pliers etc you should feel 3 position hi at one end low at the other and neutral in the middle ,see if motor turns when lever in cab is moved ,motor will only fit on one position when both motor and shaft align

pmsl no mate i live at the top of a large hill and when the snow comes i will need the low gears :D whats a wine bar i,m from yorkshire lol

oh in snow its high box and gentle on throttle, keep momentum on the ups and dead slow on the downs, landcruisers even have a switch labelled second start that cuts out first gear for snow and ice driving.
So on your car, when you try and move gear lever over to the low range side, the lights on that side just keep on flashing with a beeping noise? Mine flashes and bleeps a couple of times, theres a bit of a clonk and the selector lights brighten on low side, dim on high side.
If they just keep flashing and you can still set off, the transfer motor is obviously doing nothing and needs checking

Need to be stopped and in park to go to low range don't you, not a shift on the fly is it

Just to check are you stationary when you shift it to the low range then leave it in the N position for 3-4 seconds whilst the transfer box moves? If not thats when it beeps
Oh and the only time you will ever need low range is when you need the full power of the engine
I live on a very steep hill near leeds bradford airport and when it snows you know it and the only time ive ever used low is to pull a 20foot conifer out of the ground :jaw:
My neighbour was gob smacked that the beast could do it!
