Hi, my 4.6 hse always runs with the temp a few mm past the 12 o'clock position, is this right, or should it be perfectly in the middle? I also noticed when squeezing the top radiator hose with the expansion tank lid on, i can hear air leaking somewhere, but cant pinpoint it, is it an actual leak or is there a hole somewhere to relieve pressure? Sorry to ask all these stupid questions, im new to range rovers, know japs and beemers like the back of my hand haha, Sam
 
there is a pressure release on the header tank cap you might be hearing it come from there and 12 o clock area is right for the gauge give or take a bit either side
 
Bang in the middle unless towing uphill on a hot day, then maybe 1 o'clock but quickly back to the middle after the top. That's on the P38. The Classic is just before the middle (7 o'clock) after a new thermostat.
