POAH, what do you think about the turners one from kent cams. it says it doesnt need mods but thats 0.43=10.91 mm and the kent cam is 11.2 :eek:
 
yeah but is it too much lift for my standard springs etc?

an extra 20 horses will take me to 220+ what my compression has gained me so happy with that so long as it keeps the standard power from idle where you want it in a rrc

Thanks POAH, thing is I dont really want more low end torque than standard- do you not think the 285 ftlbs at 2500 rpm is enough?

I would have thought that the place I needed it was mid range to top for overtaking and the like? I always thought my 3.9 (I know not my current car or engine) could have used that more.

it says the power starts at 1800 rpm on the 777 cam, do you reckon its got none before that then or is it a nice flat curve of peak torque from 1800 rpm up to 4 odd k?
 
correct me if am wrong but the lift on that crow cam is below the max for the standard springs? sounds good!
 
got to remember than on standard heads and your square engine it won't rev as well as a 3.5 would. power is still going to be over by 5000rpm probably so having a cam that will let you make power at 5500 but not have the heads to flow the air is pointless. pretty much all the aftermarket cams will give more power beyond the standard peak rpm. standard power will drop off after 4200rpm so by fitting a different cam, better flowing manifold and exhaust you will get a better power band.
 
ive got the headers and the cam (if I buy it) but the inlet on these is **** and known for not really being tunable :(

looking at this page on the crow site http://www.crowcams.com.au/media/catalogues/29.0 Range Rover.pdf I am wondering if the standard p76 (not the rrc one the other site sugges for rrc 4.4 fitment )cam is the way to go, as tbh I have as much power as I need and the band looks good for range rover use. I have asked him what the hp gain will be with the other cams so we shall see.

out of interest what real steel cam are you talking about, as when I spoke to them he said all but the 1 standard rv8 cam (p5 one) would require mods tot he engine to fit and push the power band up the rev range to far for a rrc to use.

what are you putting your 3.9 in mate?
 
not sure why they would say that. its the RS cyclone I was looking at but the crower 50229 gets good reviews too.

cam would be pretty good move in the 4.4 to make a bit more further up the rev range


BTW I'm getting crow and crower mixed up hence why I thought the part number never existed lol

thing is if its not s reavvy engine, and its in a rrc used offroad as well as highway do I want to take the power higher up the rev range?

I just want to make best use of my increased compression really, thats why I was thinking p5 cam as they run 10.5:1, wonder where the power starts on the standard p5?
 
pretty much all of the cams we are discussing are good for the engine in a RR. they will give a wider power band compared to a standard engine.
