Afternoon I wonder if anyone can help.After my success curing the oil leak on my P38 My friend has asked me if I can sort out his leak on his XJR 4.2SC .it appears to be from where the oil filter housing bolts to the engine,it then runs down and runs around the pressed steel part of the sump.I can see a pipe joint on the housing which I assume is from the oil cooler and will be fitted with an O ring.I cannot get any information from the Jag forum unless it's for cleaning products and polishes:rolleyes: Hope someone can help , didn't @myfirstl322 have a Supercharged L322 once?:oops:;):D

Just to see if there's a gasket between the oilflter housing and the engine thanks.

Thanks but that shows the oil cooler as part of the oil filter housing, from memory his housing is just a block held on by , probably eight 8mm headed bolts.guess I'll have to pull it apart and see,he's got other cars so he won't be stuck. I'll post the answer to the question when I get it Thanks again.

Remove the housing and inspect the gaskets and inner gasket supports. They go brittle and the plastic gives up. I've just done one on a vw 1.6tdi. A common fault and a new complete unit was fitted instead after someone else had smothered it in silicon (silicant)... :rolleyes:

I can't go round to my mates because he's tested positive.hope it doesn't need a new unit, they're over £300+ the dreaded.
