I have a diag plug in and not showing any faults. As for a previous comment about keys not really helpful at this stage, but thank you.
 
Yes, I am quite familiar with autos and am an engineer so I understand the principles. It's just so annoying that it works fine out of the gate and then i come to need that bit extra from standing start and it seems to take off ok but goes to the limit i feel and i have to lift my foot and wait till the revs to drop before i can get it to change up.
 
But you didn't know what kick down is or that there are no gears before first?
 
I thouht you were joking about kicking down in first, of course i know there is no gear below first. If you read my post I said that it doesn't change up from standing start not down. Sorry not being funny but just clarifying.

Kickdown will stop the gears changing up, ie hold it in lower gear for longer as well as dropping down when higher up the box.
Does this happen at all throttle positions?

Ok, the gearbox is fine up and down the box after you are in 2nd. To set off steady no problem. If i try to set off quickly it will launch but gets to end of the gear and won't change unless I back off and allow it to change up at lower revs.

So is there a communication problem somewhere?
 
Is something not telling the gearbox ECU that it is upto or overspeeding and needs to change to second gear?
Has it been chipped or reprogrammed in any way?

Still sounds like kick down. But should change up eventually. Does it redline in first? Will it change up if you persist?
